Apocalypse, Stupidity and a Bunny.

It has been two days since the WA* was issued. All of our escape routes from the city have been cut. Roads are barricaded, public transportation has become a thing of the past. All we can do is walk, and even that is proving difficult. The brave of heart are out there now, stocking up on provisions. I myself just made it back from an epic hunt for a box cutter and a lighter. Now I can defend my cats from any looters.

Times have been hard. My sister and I have been exploring the baron wasteland. We found naught but deserted streets and abandoned cars. There was one sign of life though. Whilst flailing in the snow, trapped with no way out, we stumbled upon a variety signs. Signs that life still exists outside our own. We found tribal sculptures. Mostly geometric forms, round, with various pebbles and twigs for buttons, eyes, and appendages. Some seemed obviously to be grave markers for the scarves and hats of the fallen where strewn over the sculptures ceremoniously.
We decided to leave our own mark as well. A rabbit: white, cold, with beady red eyes and a red nose, all made of cranberries. A sign, for others like us, to send the message: we are still out here, we are still fighting, there are others. Hope.

Don't you guys just love me! <3 ahahaha. Yeah Mica has really made me produce a lot of work during my freshman year, more than Lag ever did in my opinion. I'm still a slow worker but I feel I've gotten better. A lot of things are either done or in progress...so much hw and I'm taking the time to post art...-_-'

Hit the Dirt

It seems like school these days revolves around ice cream, tie dye shirts, hiking and crafts. It's the place I've always wanted to be in... rows and rows of taxidermic birds and 19th century zoology books. I have no idea how it turned out this way but I like it. I was afraid I wouldn't be able to draw, better yet, i'm in a place that inspires me more than my high school art classes have ever done. I could use a little dose of Brooklyn every now and again though (yes, this is about food again) but in all seriousness I miss the atmosphere there.

Flakey Snow Day.

I need a warm sweater. It's snowing, it's ACTUALLY snowing. Snow isn't my favorite, but it's still cute to watch the little tabby cats in my backyard romp and roll around as flakes fall on them. One day I'll make a cat sanctuary in my backyard, or maybe like a hidden bunker under the concrete to store kittens... some sort of cat fall out shelter, oh I don't know.  >_>

I'm doing preliminary sketches for a mixed media painting that I should probably start as soon as possible. Here's one:

I'm laying on the down low for now, I don't think I can function while I simultaneously study for AP Biology, make clay Matryoshka charms and paint things. Oh right, I also have this giant wooden crate I stole from the Ceramics room and don't know whether I should stuff it with dried flowers and twigs and make some sort of "fossilized" botanical garden exhibit in a box. If someone feels kind enough to lend me a power drill I could seal the crate with some plexiglass or something. I think I may need to use some epoxy to keep the flowers sturdy and in place muhahahahahahaaaaa.

Just a quick update from me, Sarah-Raccoon. Busy with college applications and portfolios...it's so much work, and confusion, and just ugh. But I hope I get into SMFA (look it up lol). Busy with life so I had to depart from the blog for w.e. reasons....@_@ but I'm back. And...with a picture~ this was my last minute portfolio piece, which turned out pretty good. :D

I'm spending four days on Biology questions, when I realized I could hardly get through a question on fly sex I knew right then and there studying would need to increase ten fold. Woeeeee.... Woeeeee.... Waaaiiiillll

So here's a butt anyhow.

FINALLY!!! After half a year, my sculpture is in the showcase.... BEHOLD: "организм и дружок" (read as: organeezm ee drudjhok, meaning: bodily systems and his little friend)


So.... now it can collect a thick layer of dust behind the dirty glass with the broken bottom lock.. Who know what could happen to it there. It might need to defend its post from the invasions of The Evil Flog Creeps or the Scary Georgia O'keefe "Flower"-looking Sculptures next door... well, needless to say, it'll have many adventures and jump many hurdles to survive its stay behind the looking glass (minus looking)...

The mind numbing forces of the imagination have been poking at my measly brain matter and have suggested that I explore the ideas of this piece in some sort of series in different mediums.. perhaps a marble sculpture... perhaps not...

Maybe something nice of it... We'll see...
